New EP "Open-Mindedness" To Be Released 12/24

Super stoked to finally be able to share the good news with you all!!! My brand new psychedelic EP “Open-Mindedness” will be released across all digital platforms on Christmas Eve!!!

Featuring 3 tracks packed with blazing energy, neon color, and a swirling galaxy of texture and innovative sound design, I can say with confidence that this is one for the record books. 

Let the cover art speak for itself as a glimpse into the atmosphere of this release, with the sanctity of transcendental introspection blossoming radiantly through what Aldous Huxley would refer to as the “mind’s antipodes,” or the regions of the mind that one may reach through intense meditation or psychedelic exploration. It is an honor to offer this EP as an aural adjuvant towards a deeper discovery of self, acting as a cosmic catalyst for elevated consciousness.

Aura Blaze returns with "The Plight of the Soul Ablaze in the Face of Mortal Drudgery," out via all streaming platforms on February 28, 2020.

The tones and atmospheres are notably different than previous works, with the incorporation of acoustic guitars and a Crosby Stills & Nash esque arrangement of 3-part vocal harmonies layered over bombastic drums and heavy electric guitar chords and the trademark swirling eclipse of synthesizers and orchestral flourishes. It is both stripped down and introspective and yet blossoming with emotion and texture.

I apologize for the relative silence on the Aura Blaze front as of late — been slaving away at the album while overcoming the inevitable Rhodeblocks that emerge every now and again but rest assured that we are well on our way to something wonderful, gleaming just over the horizon of the near future...

Immense progress has been achieved since the last update and I made sure to highlight much of this in an extended 19-minute vlog that walks through each track, one at a time, offering insight into what to expect in terms of vibe, energy, and atmosphere. Looking forward to bringing it all to life very soon!

Aura Blaze Releases "Life (We All Get One)" — Recorded In A Single Day For The "Speak Into My Good Eye" 24-Hour Songwriting Challenge

Ladies and gents, here is a brand new Aura Blaze original! Streaming & download available below.

"Life (We All Get One)" was written, recorded, and produced in a single day for the Speak Into My Good Eye charity event, the 24-Hour Songwriting Challenge benefitting the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.  Over 50 bands participated in the 4th annual 24-Hour Songwriting Challenge, culminating in an epic full-length compilation album that can be downloaded here: https://speakimge.bandcamp.com/album/the-4th-annual-24-hour-songwriting-challenge All proceeds are donated to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

As for "Life," yes, there are some rough edges, and I do plan on going back to make the necessary edits and fixes, but for cranking this whole thing out in one day I am quite happy with the results. Hope you enjoy this "24-hour" version in the meantime until I get the chance to polish it up and officially release it as a new single! Thank you as always for the support.

I have something special brewing for Electric Light Orchestra fans!

First of all, yes, there is certainly lots of new music on the way. Twenty Sixteen has been one hell of a busy year in preparation for the follow-up to last summer's debut album and the hard work I am putting into this is proving to be well worth it as new melodic territory is explored and production quality sees noteworthy advances. In the coming weeks I will be posting further details here concerning the new album as well as regular studio updates as recording progresses.

In the meantime, draw a circle around 9/28 because I will be releasing a cover of ELO's classic "Sweet Talkin' Woman" — the euphoric spirit of the original is very much alive on this one.

Debut Album to be Released on 46th Anniversary of Woodstock's Opening Day, August 15

Hello to one and all! I am pleased to announce that on August 15, the date marking the 46^th anniversary of the opening day of Woodstock, I will be independently releasing the Aura Blaze debut full-length as a digital download.

Though I had originally intended to work with a label in bringing this album to fruition, ideally on vinyl, it has since been made apparent to me by the labels I have been in contact with that, despite the genuine interest and market potential that many of them see for what I have to offer with this release, they do in fact require that their acts tour regularly before they decide to extend a record deal offer.

As most of you are aware, Aura Blaze is a solo studio project managed entirely by myself, Rhode Rachel. Though assembling a live Aura Blaze lineup is indeed a goal of mine on the horizon for the future, touring is not a possibility at this point in time. Forming a live band entails the channeling of very specific energies, all of which I am currently directing towards recording and production, what with my main priority being not only the release of the debut but the recording and production for the second Aura Blaze album which is already well underway.

With this taken into account, and not least my desire to retain the rights to the master recordings, I have decided that rather than waiting indefinitely for a label to get this album off the ground it would make the most sense for me to handle releasing it myself, digitally.

For the purist audiophiles out there, please note that I still intent to release the album on vinyl but I do not have a precise timetable as to when this will happen as there are a number of factors involved that will require my full attention and due diligence.
